BYE META

Last year, we stopped all advertising on Meta. Full stop. Instead of pumping money into Big Tech, we’re now putting the entire budget behind this role and betting on our ability to create engagement around the company and our vision together with people we believe in.

Because we don’t believe people trust algorithms and brands. People trust people. And Northern Playground is perhaps as much a movement as it is a clothing brand. Sure, we sell clothes and repairs, but above all, we want to show that a commercial company can actually help change the world for the better. We can only do that if real people are involved in creating that change — and are willing to talk about it loudly to others.

Now we need someone who can take this to the next level, full-time: Build and run our community, activate our ambassadors and turn engagement into real action, and make sure the conversation happens out there — not in an ad.

ABOUT US

Northern Playground challenges the entire logic of the clothing industry. No collections. Timeless products. Repair as a goal in itself, not just marketing. And an honest acknowledgment that truly sustainable clothing doesn’t really exist.

We’re also rebels and activists who refuse to accept the world as it is. That’s why NP is about more than selling clothes. We want to use our voice to challenge the industry, influence policy and show that companies can actually help build up the planet.

But our voice alone won’t change much. We need more people. We need you — and the people you bring with you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will build and run NP’s community across four groups, each with different needs and different energy:

– 30,000 followers who should experience NP as a conversation, not a broadcaster
– 1,200 owners who are invested — with values, identity and money
Ambassadors; activists and people working to move the world in a better direction, who need a platform, not a brief
Customers who should be nurtured, involved and turned into returning participants in the circular economy

This is a new role. That means you get to figure out what it is — and what it can become.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

– Develop ideas for and implement community activities and initiatives
– Define and launch a clear ambassador structure, including a charter, recruitment and follow-up
– Coordinate and nurture the ambassador group (target: ~50 profiles)
– Build CRM-driven customer communication that turns customers into returning customers and strong advocates
– Create spaces where people can meet and get involved. Digital, but at least as much physical
– Stay up to date on what’s happening in both digital and physical spaces that are relevant to us
– Create content that invites dialogue, not just applause
– Work closely with the marketing team. Community and commercial goals are not opposites
– Establish simple ways of measuring community health. What creates engagement? What creates movement? What falls flat?

YOU'RE THE RIGHT PERSON IF...

– You’re a world-class relationship builder. People feel seen after 20 seconds. It’s not a technique — it’s who you are
– You speak many “languages” and are equally comfortable with a professor of consumer psychology, a ski bum and an engaged co-owner
– You speak and write Norwegian fluently
– You’re early in your career (+/- 3 years of work experience), but have already proven that you can build something: a network, a community, a project, a movement
– You understand the difference between a follower and a participant, and know how to turn one into the other
– You’ve built or been closely involved with a community that genuinely matters to the people in it
– You’re genuinely passionate about climate, consumption and “play more”. Not as buzzwords, but as things you live by
– You’re as comfortable sending a handwritten letter as you are analysing an email campaign
– You don’t measure success in likes and comments. You’re curious about what actually makes people care
– You’re structured enough to keep four community tracks moving, and humble enough to know when to ask for help
– You thrive working closely with founders who have strong opinions and move fast

YOU MIGHT NOT BE RIGHT IF...

– You primarily think of community as a distribution channel for content
– You measure success solely in followers and reach
– You expect clearly defined job descriptions, fixed routines and predictable days
– You need big budgets to create big things

WHAT WE OFFER

The textile industry accounts for almost 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and few are taking action that creates real change. Building a community around what we do isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s one of the most important things we can do.

We can’t offer the highest salary in the market. But we can offer real influence, meaningful work and the opportunity to build something that hasn’t been done before, in a company that genuinely means what it says.

– 100% permanent position
– Competitive terms
– Workplace in central Oslo, Torggata
– The opportunity to make a big impact in a small company
– An informal and passionate team with short decision-making paths
– Digital-free lunches with fresh bread and fresh stories
