AREAS OF USE
The idea is that these will be your go-to pants around the campfire or on the couch after a long hike. It will also be great under your shell on extra cold days. Other areas of use might be:

  • Warm up and cool down
  • On a walk with the in-law's
  • Post-shred at the cabin
  • In the tent on cold nights
  • Extra warmth on cold chairlifts

An important ambition with these pants is that we want them to last a really long time. They are developed with years of wear in mind, and designed timelessly. The background for our design philosophy is the simple fact that there is no such thing as sustainable materials. The only thing that really makes a difference is consuming less. That is why we want to join forces with you and develop clothing that is used often and for a long time. Feel free to read our design philosophy before giving any feedback on this product.

ATTRIBUTES
The idea behind this product has evolved throughout the past year. After receiving the first prototype we have made a few changes. For example, we decided to design the pants without zippers in the sides, as there were far more people in the discussion who wanted these kinds of pants without. If you have any thoughts on what elements should be included in pants like these, leave a comment at the bottom of this page. With ideas from the discussion in mind, we are currently leaning towards the following details:

  • Large side pockets
  • Spacious back pocket
  • Drawstring on inside of waist for a clean design and easy adjustment
  • Pockets in knees for extra reinforcement and padding when necessary
  • Narrow fit around legs, long legs and loose ankles
  • Roomy fit around hips and thighs
  • Earthy colors without "loud" details
  • Matching jacket (se her)

MATERIALE
You have probably heard of fleece, but do you know what it is? Opposite to what most people think, fleece is not a fiber. The word describes the appearance of a material, and is originally used to describe a part of the wool. By using wool fleece instead of polyester, you get all of the obvious advantages that come with wool, we are able to stick to natural materials in our collection, and you get a comfortable garment with good insulation.

WOOL FLEECE VS. POLYESTER FLEECE
A challenge with polyester is that it is made of oil and sheds micro plastic. Most people know this, but lots of people prefer polyester fleece because they think it is a more "breathable" mid-layer. Research from Austria referred to in Randulf Valles book "Why Does Being Wet Make You Feel So Cold" clearly shows that moisture is transported away from the body more effectively with wool as a mid-layer. Try it yourself!

BACKGROUND
We are constantly receiving new product ideas in our idea portal. When Community members Jørgen Jevne and Trygve Ugelstad sent in the same idea of "camp pants", we couldn't resist the urge to take it a step further with our Community. Read Jørgen and Trygve's ideas below.

"Pants for use in winter camps. Really just the same idea as Ziplongs® continued. There is a small vacuum of producers here today, with only a few good alternatives on the market. Full-length zippers are something you should be best at within the industry." - Idea sent in by Jørgen Jevne

"I love bringing camp pants on trips. It would be cool to have one with the same concept as Ziplongs®. Even easier to take off before getting into a sleeping bag or putting on wet skin after getting out of a kayak. Should be a little thick, with a soft material on the inside. 1 or 2 pockets. Elastic waist. That would be awesome!" - Ida sent in by Trygve Ugelstad
